Measure your natural waist and fullest hip to find your panty size. If between sizes, size up for comfort.

Measuring Made Easy

How to measure for the right bra size — VELORA
Use a soft measuring tape for accuracy
1

Underbust (Band Size)

Wrap the tape snugly around your ribcage, directly under your bust. Keep it level all the way around. Breathe normally — don't suck in. Round to the nearest whole number. If even, that's your band size; if odd, add 1.

2

Full Bust (Cup Size)

Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Don't pull too tight — let the tape rest naturally. The difference between this and your underbust determines your cup size.

3

Natural Waist

Find your natural waist — usually the narrowest point between your ribs and hips, about an inch above your navel. Measure here for panties, bodysuits, and shapewear sizing.

4

Full Hips

Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks — typically 7–9 inches below your natural waist. Keep the tape level and parallel to the floor.

Fit Tips from Our Experts

Your bra band should sit horizontally across your back — not riding up or digging down. You should be able to slide two fingers underneath comfortably, but no more. When you first buy a bra, wear it on the loosest hook so you can tighten as the band stretches over time.

  • Band riding up in back: size down in band, size up in cup
  • Band digging in: size up in band, size down in cup
  • Band feels loose even on the tightest hook: it's time for a new bra

Cup size is a relative measurement — it reflects the difference between your full bust and underbust, not your bust measurement alone. A 1-inch difference = A cup, 2" = B, 3" = C, 4" = D, 5" = DD, 6" = DDD/F, 7" = G.

This means a 32D and a 38D are very different in actual cup volume. A 32D and 34C hold roughly the same volume — these are called "sister sizes" and can be helpful when shopping across brands.

Your cups should fully encapsulate your breast tissue with no spillage and no gaps. Common fit issues include:

  • Spillage over the top or sides: Your cup is too small — size up
  • Wrinkling or gaping fabric: Your cup is too large — size down
  • Center underwire not lying flat: Cup may be too small, or you may need a wider gore style
  • Underwire poking or sitting on breast tissue: The cup is too small

Sister sizes share the same cup volume but differ in band size. To go up a band size, go down a cup letter — and vice versa. For example:

  • 34C sister sizes: 32D (smaller band) and 36B (larger band)
  • 36DD sister sizes: 34DDD and 38D
  • 32DDD sister sizes: 30G and 34DD

Sister sizing is especially helpful when your preferred size is out of stock or when a style runs slightly different in fit.

Proper care preserves the elasticity and structure of your lingerie, keeping it fitting beautifully for longer:

  • Hand wash bras in cool water with a gentle detergent whenever possible
  • If machine washing, use a lingerie bag on a delicate cold cycle
  • Never tumble dry — heat breaks down elastic and spandex fibers
  • Lay flat or hang to air dry; avoid direct sunlight for coloured pieces
  • Rotate between at least 2–3 bras — elastic needs 24 hours to recover its shape
  • Store bras with cups nested together, not folded flat, to preserve cup shape
